How To Be Body Positive

Body positivity is the belief that all people should have good body image and self esteem. Its not about worshiping one type of body, but instead welcoming diversity. This page looks at finding ways to rock the body you have, while finding appreciation along the as well

1) Remind yourself that you are enough

Understanding that you shouldn't have to change for anyone but yourself is key. We cant say that we support body positivity if we ourselves believe that were only enough through change.

2) Create a safe empowerment wardrobe

Telling yourself that you can't wear certain things because you don't look a certain way is absolute crap. Start taking note of what colors and clothing styles make you feel the best, these can be collected to create your safe empowerment wardrobe. This is a space where you can pull out anything and know that it looks and feels great.

3) Create a more adventurous wardrobe

Now that you've established a fashion safe ground its time to get funky. Are there clothes or styles you'd love to try but feel you don't have the confidence to pull off? Well if you're ever at the store considering buying something like this than do it! Even if you don't feel brave enough to wear it now you can take it in baby steps to wearing these adventurous items. Try wearing them around people that you know will support and hype you up for example friends or family. With these two wardrobes combined you'll find you have a variety of clothing that helps you to feel and look your best.

4) Check out inspiring pictures from people like you

Obviously every ones individuality makes them special, but sometimes it can be hard in social settings such as school or work when you seem to be the only one that looks different. But here's the thing, there are always others out there going through things just like us. Check out pintrest for some stunning pics, or research hashtags that associate with your looks. This can be a great way to find beauty in what you may falsely believe to be your flaws.

5) Give yourself the time

It's not likely that you're just going to wake up one day and never have unhappy thoughts about your body again (but if that is you then well done;) Be sure to give yourself time to grow and develop into confidence overtime, just try to avoid using this an an excuse to putting yourself down as this will make it a longer process. In the long run this is your journey to find self acceptance, so give yourself some love, be body positive.
